High resolution photos of the DJI Mini 3 drone, RC leak online

Editor’s note: This article has been updated with new high resolution photos of the DJI Mini 3 drone that were leaked over the weekend.

Original post: April 15, 05:38

As DJI Mini 3 nears its alleged April 28 launch date, photos have surfaced online showing the drone weighing less than 250 grams in the wild.

The day started with tipsters DealsDrone and Jasper Ellens flooding Twitter with grainy spy shots of the alleged DJI drone, showing the plane both on the ground and in midair. In one of the photos we could also see the supposed DJI RC – a new remote control with a built-in high-resolution screen that DJI is expected to launch alongside the Mini 3.

But it was only a matter of time before DealsDrone got their hands on what appeared to be studio shots of the drone and RC, which were likely commissioned by DJI themselves.

Take a look :

The size of the gimbal protector, as seen in the studio images, clearly indicates that the Mini 3 is going to be fitted with a much larger lens than its predecessors. Previous leaks have anyway indicated that the Mini 3 camera can come with a maximum aperture of f/1.7 – allowing the sensor to accept more light and, therefore, facilitating better low-light performance.

Photos leaked today also confirm the drone’s huge design overhaul, making it look like its bigger brother Mavic 3. The two large obstacle avoidance sensors on the front of the plane are quite prominent. The arms are longer and support larger propellers for better wind resistance and better flight time. The drone is expected to come with a 2,453mAh battery, a slight improvement over the Mini 2.

Well, now that professionally shot images of the Mini 3 are here, can the spec sheet be a long way off? Stay tuned DroneDJ for more updates!
