Motorola Edge 30 Ultra 200MP camera sample makes its way online – Phandroid

It has already been reported that Motorola is working on a new smartphone which could be the first smartphone to take advantage of Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 200MP sensor. That phone in question will be the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, and if you’re wondering what a photo taken with a 200MP sensor looks like, you’re in luck.

Indeed, according to a post on Weibo by Motorola China general manager Chen Jin, he shared a photo taken by the camera in question. Now, we have to point out that you shouldn’t get too excited just yet. For starters, megapixels don’t mean everything and more megapixels don’t mean better photos.

There are other factors to consider like sensor size, lens aperture, lighting conditions, etc. Another thing is that usually when photos are uploaded on social media platforms, they get compressed and in turn they lose some of their details. So while the photo looks decent, we wouldn’t necessarily call it an accurate representation of the camera’s capabilities.

Jin also noted that the photo uses a 4-in-1 pixel binning process, which he claims is better than the 9-in-1 pixel binning used in other devices that use a 108MP sensor. Either way, there are plenty of other reasons to get excited about the phone aside from its camera.

From what we’ve heard, the phone will feature a 6.73-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and under the hood a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset can be found alongside 12 GB of RAM, making it quite the powerhouse of a device. The phone is expected to be announced later this month, so check back with us soon for more updates.
