The new gacha RPG Sword Art Online VS has an emergency maintenance less than 24 hours after launch. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what exactly this maintenance was for, as the game has suffered from numerous issues since release.
First, the event leaderboard was not displaying correctly, which forced the developers to dig deeper into the issue. The Scout screen required maintenance due to display issues, as well as players requesting camera angle fixes, with some claiming the game was “unplayable in this state”. This is due to camera angles going out of control when using skills during combat.
After the initial maintenance period of Sword Art Online VS, the developers have resumed their Official Twitter to announce that the game was back up and running. Additionally, they mentioned that they would give players 150 Variant Crystals as an apology. Also, another issue that was found was the inability to close the notification screen. The developers then tweeted that the whole app needs to be updated to fix this issue.
Many players can’t even get into the game right now, leading to jokes about being “kicked out, not locked in”. This is a reference to the original Sword Art Online anime storyline, where all players were trapped inside the game.
What’s new on Sword Art Online VS maintenance?
Right now, the camera angle bug still needs a fix, with many gamers desperately asking the devs on Twitter to acknowledge it. Slow animations have also been reported, especially when summoning characters, as well as clunky combat gameplay.
It is important to remember that the launch time of a live game will not always be perfect and it is quite normal to have bugs. However, these issues should be resolved as soon as possible. We expect there to be another upcoming maintenance period, as there are still a few issues to resolve.
