HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police have arrested Majeed Khan, a tailor-turned-property offender at KPHB, who stole silver items weighing around 6.5kg from a jewelry store in a shopping mall and recovered the stolen goods from him intact. Police discovered that Majeed Khan lost his job during the lockdown and fell into a financial crisis. Since then, he has not been able to recover from the crisis and has resorted to the offense to clear his financial charges.

Maisari Rama Krishna had been running a jewelry store in KPHB’s Forum Mall for six years. On April 30, when he came to open the shop, he found that the glass doors were open and silver items had been stolen.

He immediately filed a complaint at the KPHB police station. While checking CCTV of the store and mall, police found a person entering the store between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. on April 30. Later during the investigation, Rama Krishna and mall security personnel identified the person spotted in the CC cameras as Majid Khan.

Investigations revealed that he had worked at a clothing store in the mall and quit his job three years ago. Recalling their old memories, the complainant and the staff identified him, after which the police tracked him down and arrested him.
