I NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN HERE. THIS IS A LITTLE MOM AND POP STORE. I’M SORRY. WE ARE NOT EVEN ON THE MAP. THE BRAZEN THEFT HAPPENED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE STORE. EMPLOYEE WILL JOHNSON. WE HAVE EVERYTHING ON VIDEO. WE HAVE A LOT OF CAMERAS HERE AND OUTSIDE. IT’S HIM IN A BLUE SHIRT POINTING TOWARDS THE SUSPECTS AS THEY TAKE THEIR TIME TO EASILY CARRY THE GAB BECAUSE IT WAS NOT FIXED TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENED THURSDAY NIGHT, ABOUT 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE STORE CLOSED. ONE OF THE SUSPECTS ENTERS. DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE WAY HE BEHAVED? JOHNSON SAYS HE DIDN’T THINK HE WAS COME WEARING A MASK SINCE A LOT OF PEOPLE STILL DO IT BECAUSE OF COVID. POLICE THINK AT THIS TIME THAT THE SUSPECT IS ONLY USING THE MACHINE. NOW WATCH SOMEONE ELSE JOIN IT. LOOK MORE CLOSELY. THEY QUICKLY SEE THE MACHINE AND EXIT. THIS ATM IS A SLIM MODEL. THE STORE OWNER ONLY PUT A SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY IN IT FOR HIS REGULAR CUSTOMERS. NOW BE CAREFUL THAT THIEVES PUT THE ATM ON A CLEAR VAN. DO YOU RECOGNIZE THE VEHICLE? IT HAS AN EXHAUST PROBLEM. WELL, WISELY DID NOT INTERFERE, BUT HE WAS HEAD ENOUGH TO FOLLOW THEM OUTSIDE THE GATE TO GET A DESCRIPTION OF THE GETAWAY VEHICLE. I GOT A PARTIAL CATCH BUT YOU KNOW WHERE THEY SAY DUMB TAGS WERE STOLEN WITH THE VAN. THE STORE HAS MANY LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND THEY ARE ANGRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. I THINK IT’S CRAZY. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, TO BE HONEST, I AM REALLY HAPPY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I THINK IT’S RIDICULOUS, HE’S A REALLY GOOD GUY. HIS WIFE IS A VERY GOOD WIFE. THE NEIGHBORHOOD STORE, I THINK, IS RIDICULOUS. THEY PLAN TO REPLACE THE ATM BECAUSE IT’S VERY CONVENIENT FOR CUSTOMERS. BUT THE NEW WILL BE SECURE AND FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. THEY DON’T WANT TO REVEAL HOW. BA NORTHEAST REPORT
